On Monday, April 10, 2017, our Managing Partner, Jim Coogan, was invited to be a guest on the nationally-syndicated “The Norman Goldman Show.” Norman Goldman has been hosting his own radio show since 2009, presenting a daily look at “law, civics, and politics.” It’s a very educational show with an emphasis on how the government works and how we can make the government work for us, with some politics blended in. Norm himself was a practicing lawyer in Los Angeles, California, but now dedicates his professional time to the show.
Jim Coogan was invited to come on the show and speak as a legal commentator on Workers’ Compensation law. Jim discussed what benefits workers are afforded under the law in Illinois (and generally in the other forty-nine states) when they get injured at work. He also discussed how those benefits differ from government benefits because they are paid for through premiums paid by employers. He discussed how important those benefits are for employees to survive while they are unable to work, to be able to pay the bills, and get the medical treatment they need, and that the goal is to get healthy and get back on the job.
