Chicago Daily Law Bulletin Announced their 40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch

The Chicago Daily Law Bulletin announced their Annual list of 40 Attorneys under the age of 40 to Watch this week. The list names young attorneys practicing in the Chicagoland area who are achieving success for their clients while building meaningful careers. The special digital edition of the magazine was released on Thursday, September 24, 2020 along with the announcements of the lawyers who are recognized. This year, the publication named our own Jim Coogan to the select group.

The article highlights Jim’s efforts to lead and grow the law practice of Coogan Gallagher while maintaining his commitments to his clients’ cases. Originally founded in 1980, the firm has achieved some of its strongest results since Jim took over management of the firm. This included one of the largest verdicts in the State of Illinois in 2019, in the Nichols v. University of Chicago Medical Center case as well as a substantial 2020 settlement of a tragic nursing home death case.

“This recognition is a credit to everyone at this law firm and all the hard work and dedication we all bring to each of our client’s causes,” said Coogan about the 40 Under 40 honor. “But it is also a reflection of the mentors and role models and the counsel that I have been so fortunate to have since I began working for Pat Dwyer. Pat has taught me how to work for clients and sets a perfect example for how a lawyer can be both tough and fair.”

Jim was originally hired by Pat Dwyer and Jim McCarthy to what was then Dwyer, McCarthy & Associates. Jim McCarthy is now associate general counsel for the Village of Skokie. Fittingly, McCarthy praised Coogan’s earlier contributions to some of the firm’s toughest, high-stakes cases in the profile.
