A Waste Management worker in his mid 40’s injured himself while pushing a garbage tote to his garbage truck. He was pushing the tote when a heavy load slid forward and tipped backwards, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on the pavement. Initially, he felt pain in his neck, but tried to finish his route. Over the next few hours, pain worsened in his neck and arms. He eventually got neck surgery and as a result of the injuries was unable to return to work as a garbage truck driver.
After five years of benefits and medical treatment for his injuries, a settlement was reached of $517,000.
